• European-Ukrainian Energy Day

  For fourth time in the last three years, Kyiv hosted European-Ukrainian Energy Day, organized by the European-Ukrainian Energy Agency and the Conference House Company. Over this period, European-Ukrainian Energy Day has become a most significant event, bringing together more than 1,000 Ukrainian and international experts on energy efficiency and alternative energy source. The agenda has focused on such topics as “Ukraine’s Energy Future – The path to sustainable development or the continuation of an addiction?,” “Solar and Wind Power: The legal framework and technical issues,” “Green Cities: Regional energy development,” and much more.

• Easter celebration in Ukraine

  

  Easter is one of the most important holidays for Christians—and one of the biggest. On this day, the resurrection of Jesus Christ, the central tenet of Christianity, is celebrated. Following centuries-old Easter traditions, locals and visitors to Lviv prepare Easter baskets, bake sweet paska bread, and paint pysanky, the classic decorated Easter eggs to have them consecrated at the city’s old churches. Easter is also a family holiday. After a Mass, people go back to their homes to continue celebrating with their relatives, gathering together at a festive table with traditional Ukrainian dishes.

• Ukrainians Purify in Ice-cold Water Celebrating Epiphany

  Thousands of people gathered along the banks of the Dnipro River to celebrate Epiphany. Priests from the local churches baptized the water and a big cross-shape hole cut in the ice. The tradition says that celebrators must plunge themselves into the holy water three times in a row on the day of Epiphany – a challenge not everyone can endure.

• Kyiv Festooned With Tulips

  The nation’s capital presented its second City Tulip Exhibition at the hills of Spivoche Pole, a favorite attraction during the spring months of April and May. The flowering exhibition started April 21, transforming the Pechersk Landscape Park into a sea of multicolored slopes for all to enjoy. The tulip exhibition ran for three weeks, inviting the visitors and intrigued tulip-lovers to enjoy multiple activities and of course the tulips.

• Ukraine Holds Designer EURO-2012

  Selected fashion designers from 16 countries -- participants of the upcoming UEFA European Football Championship EURO 2012 -- brought their collections to Ukraine for a two-day project EuroFashion. The event was to promote European spirit, creativity, and social responsibility with the official motto "Water Is Life".

• A Charitable Marathon in Lviv: from Andriy to St. Nicholas

  The parade of St. Nicholas started a one-week charitable marathon that was organized to collect funds for children diagnosed with cancer. Finland, Sweden, Czech Republic, Norway, Poland, Germany, Great Britain, Nigeria, and Mexico sent their own cultural renditions of St. Nicolas to participate in the Lviv parade.
