The State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection reported on restrictions, imposed on export of Ukrainian poultry on grounds of documented cases of avian influenza in Ukraine. According to the agency, Iraq, China, Qatar, Yemen and Jordan temporarily ceased imports from the whole territory of Ukraine. At the same time, Hong Kong, the UAE, Saudi Arabia and the EU countries imposed a partial import ban on the regions where disease cases were documented (i.e. Chernivtsi, Odesa and Kherson regions).

In 2017, another five Ukrainian food producers were qualified as exporters to the EU. In particular, the list includes one company selling dairy products, one producer of ready-to-consume foods of poultry meat, and three honey producers.

As reported by the State Fiscal Service (SFS), Ukraine exported 8,100 tons of shelled eggs in January-February 2017 worth USD 6.99 million. At the same time, import of the same product reached 402 tons worth USD 1.2 million. Thus, the positive surplus in foreign trade in eggs made up USD 5.8 million.
