Since the beginning of the year, Ukraine has boosted its exports of finished agricultural and food products by 35%. Major growth was seen in shipments of poultry meat, eggs and flour. In order to expand such exports even more, the Ministry of Agricultural Policy and Food has published a list 30 priority countries in which it will specifically promote Ukrainian food products, Minister of Agricultural Policy and Food Mykola Prysiazhniuk said.

Over the last six months, Ukraine’s agricultural sector has received more than US $152mn in foreign direct investment. Half of this went to the agricultural processing and food industries. Should the Deep Free Trade Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union be signed, these industries will see a significant growth in investment. Along with this, small-scale producers and farmers will gain greater access to credit, says Ukraine’s Minister of Agricultural Policy and Food Mykola Prysiazhniuk.

Ukraine’s Minister of Economic Development and Trade and the Chair of the Joint Ukrainian-Emirati Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation Ihor Prasolov told Emarat Alyoum News Agency that Ukraine had attracted US $29.9mn in investment from the United Arab Emirates during Q1 of 2013, which was US $5.57mn more than in the same period of 2012. This represents an increase of 24%.

This year, the Government of Ukraine plans to allocate nearly UAH 28 mn of financial support for farmers. The Government has decided that this money will be distributed at the beginning of the budget year in order to let farmers use the funds during the entire year, UNN agency reports, citing the press service of the Ministry of Agricultural Policy and Food.
