EBRD promises Ukraine over EUR 1 billion in investment in 2010

In 2010, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) plans to invest EUR 1.1 billion in Ukraine. According to Radio Svoboda (Radio Liberty), this announcement was made by EBRD Deputy Director for Ukraine Graham Hutchison at an international investment forum in Kharkiv. Mr. Hutchison added that he was not prepared say what specific projects are intended for next year.
One factor holding back international investors today is the country’s unstable political situation noted the Deputy Director of the EBRD in Ukraine. “The upcoming elections will bring yet another wave of instability,” said Mr. Hutchison. “However, the EBRD intends to continue to support Ukraine.
