Ukraine’s Economy – One of The World’s Most Promising
November 11, 2011
Ukraine was named one of the world’s five most
promising economies by the member of the U.S. House of Representatives Michael
Grimm. The congressman made this statement on November 7, 2011, while speaking
at the investment conference “Ukraine: The Best Investment Opportunities” in
New York. The republican politician noted that the growth of the GDP of Ukraine
is steady and faster than that of the US and the EU.
According to American politician, the upcoming Free
Trade Agreement with the EU is an important contributing factor to the
advantages investment in Ukraine may bring. Michael Grimm reminded that the
expected growth of Ukraine’s GDP in 2011 is set at the solid 5.1 percent.
The republican Michael Grimm believes that the
energy industry of Ukraine, its agriculture, as well as tourism and
infrastructure may offer a sound base for any future partnership. According to
the U.S. Congressman, Ukraine’s gas resources provide an opportunity to
alleviate the world’s dependency on oil and give Ukraine a chance to become one
of the top players in, say, a decade.
Michael Grimm listed Ukraine as a country with one
of the most progressive economies along with China, India, and Singapore. He
considers that the US needs to pay closer attention to Ukraine as there is
plenty of potential for cooperation. The partnership between the two countries
would only be a natural development, said Congressman Grimm. He mentioned that
“there are benefits to deepening our economic ties. With Europe poised to enact
a historic Free Trade Agreement with Ukraine, we don’t want to be left behind.”
