Ukraine’s President Viktor Yushchenko is encouraging foreign investors to actively participate in programs to prepare for the EURO-2012 football cup. The expected value of infrastructure development projects is in the neighborhood of US $20bn. Mr. Yushchenko announced this during the grand opening of the annual EBRD Board of Directors meeting.
According to LIGABiznesInform, Mr. Yushchenko pointed out that Ukraine has a coordinating council and organizing committee for preparations for EURO-2012. In addition, there are six official municipal agencies in the various locations where preparations for the European Championships are being undertaken.
“Ukraine has prepared a proper, simplified procedure for investment,” said the President.
“Ukraine has legislated unheard-of incentives for investors who participate in the programs for EURO-2012. I once again extend an invitation to all investors to get involved in realizing this program,” Mr. Yushchenko added.
The President underscored that around US $10bn in investment is needed to build hotels and tourism and sports infrastructure.
