Ukraine exported US $15.4bn worth of agricultural products
December 29, 2013
Over January-November 2013, Ukraine sold most of its agricultural output, worth over US $5.3bn and US $4.0bn, to Asia and the European Union, Ukraine’s Minister of Agricultural Policy and Food Mykola Prysiazhniuk reports. At the same time, CIS countries imported up to 3.4bn worth of Ukrainian agricultural products.
“We are continuing to work to diversify commodity groups intended for export,” the Minister said. “We are also paying considerable attention to expanding our geographical presence with Ukrainian product. Today, our agricultural products are shipped to nearly all corners of the world.”
Prysiazhniuk went on: “Ukrainian products have been successfully marketed and enjoy serious demand in Asia, the EU, the CIS and Africa and all these regions show significant potential for demand to grow. Ukraine should take advantage of this trend.”
He added that Ukraine planned to increase volumes of wheat, maize, sugar, sunflower oil, and beef exported to African countries such as Algeria, Egypt, Nigeria, Tunis and Ethiopia. Ukraine also considers Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Iraq among its top priority export markets for such products.
