March 3, 2016
“Ukraine owns more than a quarter of global black earth, and Ukrainian export has already shown 40% growth. But you must not leave it at that,” Ambassador Pyatt said.
Ukraine should become the global agricultural superpower, for it has every opportunity for it, said Geoffrey Pyatt, the US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary over the course of signing of a USD 100 million worth investment agreement on the construction of a grain terminal at the Black Sea port of Yuzhnyi.
According to the Office for National Statistics, Ukraine (excluding Crimea, temporarily occupied by Russian Federation, and the Anti-terrorist Operation area in eastern Ukraine) harvested 59.96 tons of grains and pulses in 2015, which is 6.1% less against YOY, reports UNIAN.
The experts forecast Ukraine’s grain export volume to reach 37.7 million tons in 2015/2016 marketing year. YOY, the export figure was 34.8 million tons.
