Saudi Arabia – Ukraine’s Barley Top Consumer

Ukraine exported 156,300 tons of Barley this April, a double amount against that of March and 62% more against YOY (which was 96,600 tons).
From the beginning of 2015/16 season, barley export decreased by 3%, down to 4,196,700 tons, against 4,329,000 tons YOY.
Traditionally, Saudi Arabia became the top consumer, having bought more than half of the total amount of barley Ukraine exported during the current season.
A significant increase of shipping to other Arab countries marked this season. Ukrainian exporters doubled shipping to Libya and Algeria, and increased shipping to Jordan.
Qatar was the season’s breakthrough, with more than 57,000 tons shipped there. Thus, 72% of Ukrainian barley was shipped to Arab countries in 2015/16 MY.
