Ukraine Increases Lamb and Goat Meat Exports
July 20, 2016
In January-June 2016 Ukraine exported USD 45,000 worth of lamb and goat which is a fourfold increase compared to the same period last year, reported Hubs, Ukrainian economic media outlet, citing the State Customs Service of Ukraine.
However, the state agency also noted the 11 percent (8 tons) decrease of the actual volume of these exports.
“This situation demonstrates a global price hike, mostly caused by the limited offer of beef and mutton in the Pacific region”, reports Ukraine’s State Customs Service.
According to the report, Jordan is the main consumer of Ukrainian livestock meat, holding a 82.2 percent share worth USD 37,000.
At the same time, exports of goat and sheep stock in the first half of 2016 increased by 3.6 times compared to last year reaching the total value of USD 93,000. Ukraine exports most of its goats and sheep stock to Turkey.
