Who are Ukraine’s major soy consumers?
July 22, 2016
Ukrainian soybean export in May 2016 has reached 213,800 tons against 243,600 tons in April 2016 and 150,000 tons in May 2015, reports
UkrAgroConsult.
Despite the positive dynamics of the past three months against that of last year, the overall export of 1.941 million tons over the nine months of 2015/16 is trailing behind the record-breaking season of September 2014 – May 2015 with its export volume of 2.092 million tons.
According to the report, the main importers of Ukrainian soy are Turkey (38 percent, or 737,500 tons), Egypt (24.7 percent, or 480,000 tons), the EU (more than 13 percent, or 260,000 tons) and Iran (10 percent, or 194,700 tons).
Moreover, Ukrainian soy export to Egypt demonstrates a steady increase.
If this year’s export volumes continue to demonstrate positive dynamics compared to that of last year, the results are likely to reach or even exceed last year’s record-breaking mark of 2.4 million tons.
