July 29, 2016
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (
FAO) is going to provide Ukraine with technical aid worth USD 15 million to develop the agrarian sector within the provisions of the Framework Cooperation Program signed on July 13 between FAO and the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, said Deputy Minister Olena Kovalyova in an interview to UNIAN.
“This program is designed to last until 2019 and includes every major priority and focus area of Ukraine-FAO cooperation. The estimated amount necessary for implementing all the FAO initiatives in Ukraine is about USD 15 million,” said Kovalyova, noting that the UN Agency could serve both as the main donor and attract other investors to participate in the projects.
Kovalyova told that FAO would help Ukraine implement the EU Sanitary and Phytosanitary Standards and create an open database of International Technical and Financial Aid, so that every agriculture enterprise could participate.
