Ukraine to Launch Beef Export to Egypt
November 25, 2016
Ukraine is ready to launch beef export to Egypt, states the press service of State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection (FSCP). “According to the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Ukraine, the FSCP Service is to receive a signed original of a veterinary certificate allowing export of cooled and refrigerated beef to Egypt,” the statement says.
FSCP press service quoted Mr.Volodymyr Lapa, head of the service, saying that it had to officially recognize the local Halal Certification Centre (the institution assuring that the beef is produced according to the rules of Islam) in order to open the Egyptian market to Ukrainian beef exporters.
UNIAN reported earlier that Ukrainian agrarian businesses had received poultry export permits to Egypt within the quota of 12,000 tons. In 2015, Egypt was the second-largest importer of Ukraine’s agrarian products following China.
