Ukraine Depletes EU Export Quotas for Honey

As of January 11, Ukraine has already depleted its annual quota for tax-free export of honey to the EU countries in 2017, reported the Press Service of Ministry of Agricultural Policy and Food citing the Deputy Minister Olha Trofimtseva.
UNIAN informs that the European Commission accepted the Ukrainian producers' proposal and expressed willingness to increase the EU export quotas for certain Ukrainian products. Anna Cecilia Malmström, the European Commissioner for Trade, while commenting this decision noted that it applied to grains, processed tomatoes, honey, as well as fertilizers, footwear, electric equipment and certain sorts of metal products.
At the end of September last year, Ukraine’s Vice Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic integration Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze informed that economic benefit from increasing EU export quotas was estimated at approximately USD 200 million.
According to the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine, total export of goods and services to the EU countries during nine months of 2016 was estimated at UAH 11.4 billion, 85.4 percent of that amount refers to exported goods.
